Yokai Trainers
Build 90 (Dev) Release Details:
Presently the first milestone has been reached. Build 90
contains the foundation of the game meaning a lot of back-end
functionality. While it doesn't really do anything practical
besides display stats, it contains the functions and methods for
the game to operate. Likewise, the planning stage is complete, the
concepts are complete, the load, render, player and yokai system is
complete. There's support for animations, music, sound, etc… I'm
writing a sound engine too so hopefully I won't run into major
problems. I do know that it might have issues with apple devices
because apple refuses to support certain things to force developers
to release apps on their platform instead of in-browser
applications. This is so they can steal 30% of the revenue from the
developers. Very shady!
Here is what it
looks like so far:

List of things
that have been completed up until Build 90:
- GDD and other related documents created.
- Various concept art has been created.
- Basic placeholder screens have been created.
- Load / unload system created
- Music, sound and assets system created
- Music supports looping, fade in and fade out.
- Player data generation completed - Script
- Yokai data generation completed – Script
- Player Data system completed
- Yokai Data system completed. This includes all attributes
including hidden attributes (not necessary to know, each yokai has
the same hidden stats). For example, yokai Element, Health, Magic,
Defense, Agility, Luck, etc… Everything has been completed and
additional stats have been prepared in the event that they will one
day be used.
- Player XP system completed
- Yokai Pedigree “Rank” system created, supports E, D, C, B, A,
S, SS, SSS, XR, XRS (Note that ranks S and above will not exist for
some time but preparations were made to support them in the event
that they do exit one day. Such system should be reserved for gods
and goddesses and not mere yokai)
- Yokai XP and Leveling system created. Yokai can level up to
their max pedigree level. Pedigree E for example can only level up
to 10. Pedigree D can level up to level 20 and so forth. Each
pedigree above can go up by 10 levels. Yokai will be able to
amalgamate their evolution in the future to go up a pedigree.
- Yokai SP system created and is procedurally generated using a
logarithmic algorithm. The yokai will earn 1SP per level and every
5SP levels the status let’s say “health points” will go up by a
certain amount. In other words, if your yokai has 500HP (base)
after applying 5SP points, it will gain a bonus amount of let’s say
250HP for the first 5SP and incrementally more as the bracket tiers
go up. This has not been tested for balance yet but the system is
created.
- Yokai Mood system created
- Yokai Alertness system created
- Yokai Hunger system created
- Yokai Name system created
- Conversion of SP allocation to real stats has been made
- Exploration system prepared, contains 21 wards and their
respected level of difficulty and time required to unlock. This
will be made available at the next major update.
- Title screen created
- Jappleng account connection required and created
- Home screen now supports Player Status Card, Yokai Status Card,
animated image of the yokai.
- Slime Yokai Added. Also contains idle animation and Pedigrees
for E, D, C, B, A. Note: Everyone will start with pedigree slime E.
Only E and D have animations.
- Placeholder titlescreen music created and implemented
- Placeholder homescreen music created and implemented
There are other miscelanous details that I have not added to
this list.
Yokai Trainers:
Build 100 (Public Release)
Build 100 will feature a few new things and be publicly
available. Here are some of the improvements that will be
added.
- Login / Credentials Screen
- Title Screen
- Dialog System
- Transition from the Pre-Loader to the Title screen to Home
Screen
- Audio toggle (Settings, only available on the title screen for
now)
- Home screen will look better
- Exploration Mode will be added
- Location unlock list will be added
- Yokai is “gone” display on home screen
- Energy recovery system
- Yokai XP gain on Location unlock
- Automated script to initiate the new player (fully tested)
- First public release
Release date for this is unknown. Will be available when it
becomes available so make sure you come by for news about this!
