Looks like everything works again. That was intense! Let
me explain what likely happened.
- I updated the server without creating a snapshot (dumb)
- I didn't restart the server after updating (also dumb)
- Months go by and the error logs fill up, eventually the disk
space gets full. Server crashes.
- Restart the server without knowing this (figuring out what's
going on), database crashes completely.
- Discovered the disk space has run out, fixed that
- Fixed the database, all tables were fixed and preserved
- Website was still broken, did not know why. Thought I made a
mistake with an earlier update, did not have a subversion because
of drive space issues (This has been resolved as well)
- There were no errors being shown in any logs in regards to what
was going on exactly so I fixed hundreds of warnings to see if I
can't narrow it down because it's hard with so many warnings.
- 2 days pass, did not figure it out but figured it must have
been when I updated PHP last time, I looked at the release notes of
PHP and sure enough that was my problem. I would have to remake
most of Jappleng to update the depricated features that are now
obsolete.
- Did magic to restore Jappleng from 7 months ago and restored
the database and files so that it's the latest.
Currently testing things, i may have broken a few things while
fixing warnings and errors but for the most part it should be okay.
I know there's a missing div tag somewhere on jspot by mistake.
I was mostly away from Jappleng and was heavily focusing my time
on my other projects. I am now putting time into Jappleng again.
Sorry again for the downtime and I hope that you will all look
forward to the updates to come. I know I can't ask you guys to post
more, or to get your friends to be active but if you do decide to,
I will be forever thankful for your generosity and
contributions.
