Today the new “Major” update patch (7.2) will include the new education system which is pretty comprehensive and completely revised. This patch will be explained in detail but it was the last major requirement for this proejct to be considered “complete” (although so many other features can be added). Please be advised that all of your data surrounding the education system will be erased with exception of the vocabulary tracker which has yet to be updated to the new version. I don't believe the new vocabulary tracker will require any data wipe.

Why data wipe and no migration?

The reason is because of the grading system is completely different. Previously you could either Pass or Not pass but now there's a full module system for each lesson. Every lesson must have at least 1 module to function. Each modules will have a grade score it could be Pass/No Pass, graded by number (like 8 / 10). Usually I create a script that migrates to the new system but because it's a grade-based system now, there's no way to assume what your grade would be since it was either you completed the lesson or you didn't.

The new assignments system

Presently the assignment system will be removed and incorporated directly into the lessons instead. This means that if there was 1 assignment for each lesson, there would be double the amount of lessons.  Why was this decided? Because the current assignment system  was a bit confusing to use and it required complex mechanisms. The new assignment system is the result of simplifying the process, allowing assignments to be publicly available without registration (where applicable) and alleviate development time to put towards new lessons and other things on the site. 

As a result, all assignments will be kept in the system but ignored entirely. The assignments will one-by-one be inserted after the corresponding lesson.

Will Practice Apps be affected?

No, all progres saved from the apps will remain the same. No apps were updated for this update and when they are updated your progress will not be wiped.

Will Jappleng have another wipe?
No. There will not be any other wipe moving forward regardless of feature. :)
