Which do you think is better? K-Pop or J-Pop?
imo…
K-POP:
+ Better visuals
+ Better dancing
+ Better singing
+ Amazing MV
- Overworks their idols
- Doesn't feel as genuine
- Often incorporates western styles
J-POP:
+ Feels more genine
+ Has a more unique sound and flow
+ Easy nostalgia
- Can't sing or dance usually
- MVs feel dated
- Feels indie compared to K-Pop
Have I ruffled your feathers? LOL
CPOP FOR DA WIN WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I used to think that J-Pop was unbeatable because it was new and exciting to me. But at some point I stopped listening to it regularly and got into k-pop. When I tried to listen to j-pop it was like nails on a chalkboard. Very high pitch for most songs I'd come across and it felt very indie. This isn't to say that k-pop is that much better, I would argue that most songs around the world is very lame these days because they over-rely on autotune and AI. K-pop will also almost always lip-sync at concerts versus J-Pop which they don't care if they miss notes, they'll at least try without lip-syncing.
It's tough to pick between the two though because k-pop has many groups that sound worse than j-pop or better than each other. Like X-Japan still remains an absolute timeless classic.
It's probably 60-50 for k-pop for me but ultimately any group that can genuinely sing without AI is good in my books.
