There was the Nintendo World Championship and many were excited about this, but it was pale in comparison to Bethesda's videogame lineup and announcement of Fallout 4. Most would have argued that Bethesda would have won this year's E3 and that there was no way it could get any better. During the Sony Conference, Final Fantasy VII: Remake was unveiled which made people jump, cheer, and applaud louder than a fighter jet. But then.... It happened. The legendary Yu Suzuki himself came to the stage announcing the Shenmue 3 kickstarter project and the roof shook as the crowd exploded in excitement. It was so grand of an announcement that the kickstarter servers groveled. Inside just an hour and a half, it raised half of its $2million goal and when I woke up this morning it was backed more than 100% for its base goal.
To complete the game, there's no telling on how much money they will have to raise but it seems that the basic funding has been met but to get things such as the rapport system $3.2million, skills tree $3.5million, and a village expansion with mini games ($4milion+) will be relied upon future contributors. Some critics believe that it would be too difficult to develop such a big game for such a low budget but it's possible that if it doesn't fit within their budget, they can make up for it in sales after its release.
We've provided the kickstarter url down below if you're interested in funding this project.
