Next month in April 2015, the Justice Ministry will grant entrepreneurs, investors and business(wo)men residency status to establish new businesses in Japan. Presently, establishing a business in Japan as a foreigner is difficult and sometimes impossible without the assistance of a Japanese national acting as a proxy. While the investor will not need to have a business to apply for residency status, they will be given 4 months to do what they need to do to incorporate and should they complete this process, the Ministry will extend the residency status for a longer period of time. It should be noted that it is a simplified process and that any foreign investors looking to reside in Japan will need to apply for a certificate of residence. This may perhaps be a game changer for the Japanese economy which is currently facing a possible collapse greater than Grease a few years ago. We hope that the Japanese economy will recover, and more people to be interested in the great country of Japan. What do you Japplengers think? Is this a move in the right direction?
