Japan has been in an unfortunate spot in the past decade as the economy is failing, trades are falling apart, there's possible war against China and maybe even Russian and North Korea in the near future, the Fukushima disaster was a huge burden, and the outside world tends to lay claims that Japan is very backwards in some regards. This is not something you typically see on the news but this is reality.Japan's annual GDP rate goes up to 5.9% in amidst of a shopping spree, where consumers are worried that the consumption sales tax will go up once again to 10% which was recently increased to 8%. The increase in GDP is all well and fine but it's not a sustainable effort as some economists believe it will plummet in 2015. Interestingly enough, Japan has had its first
bitcoin ATM machines just a month ago.Recently, whaling was banned as international trades were threatened due to whaling and dolphin killing. This improved relationships with affecting nations including the United States, Canada, and Australia. However, despite the ban, whaling continues illegally and there are proposed bills to resume whaling in the Antarctic by next year.Fukushima continues to be a mystery as the media retains a lot of information from it, however despite the initial ban on nuclear power plants, a new bill has been passed to renovate existing nuclear power plants and to allow new nuclear power plants to be established as Japan faces possible electrical
droughts without them. Strict regulations and modernization of all remaining nuclear power plants is expected to be a safe option and ideal for Japan. Japan is also working very hard on improving the radiation press by allowing food grown from Fukushima to be sold and eaten. This draws a lot of critics and scientists to proclaim otherwise, however the Japanese government is strong on their stance that
nothing is wrong, and there's nothing to worry about.Japan has also lifted their ban for fighting in conflict and bought a lot of military equipment as a result. This is all due thanks to the uproar over who rightfully owns the "Senkaku Islands". A few days ago, news broke out that Japan is building an outpost nearby to be completed by 2016 and a little over a month ago President Obama affirmed his alliance with Japan. Meanwhile, President Vladamir Putin wishes to discuss the islands with Japan but fears that Japan is not ready for negotiations.
Lately Justin Bieber paid his respects to the Yakusuni Shrine which honors many war criminals in WWII. This news upset many Bieber fans in China and South Korea but it also sparked the question on why such shrine honors war criminals? A controversial topic like the others, Japan seems to be shrouded in controversies and every attempt to resolve these controversies only seem to spark more. Still, that doesn't mean Japan is a bad place, it just had terrible politics like the rest of the world.
