Over the holiday break I rested my brain for a bit because honestly Jappleng has been using up most of its processing power for the longest time. I said that when I come back, I\'ll organize all my thoughts on Jappleng and prepare it in a way that it can be sustainable.

I did exactly that and know what needs to be done. This month I\'ve decided to dedicate myself towards radically improving Jappleng in a way that it can be appealing to use because I already have the basic framework done and there\'s plenty of content to enjoy.

Simplification
The biggest problem with Jappleng right now is knowing where to go. People need a tour guide every single time they land on Jappleng and they\'re not quite sure what Jappleng is and why they are here. What I decided to do is do away with the current menu system and overhaul it into something completely different.

Walls of Text, Ouch!
People don\'t like walls of text unless they are reading. They want to have a pretty nice ratio between image and text. The home page can be quite confusing for that reason and so a few tweaks here and there will be made to improve readability of our content.  We will make changes from time to time as we think is necessary.

Mobile Compatibility
Our userbase is about 40% mobile for the time being, that\'s a lot of people on mobile devices! From what I\'ve learned, teens (our biggest audience) don\'t use desktops as often as their phone. I don\'t get it, I think desktops are better but that\'s just how it is according to data I found.  We will fix existing bugs with the site so that it is useable for mobile devices and I have already worked on concepts for a dedicated mobile edition.

New Staff
I have recruited 1 new staff member as of yesterday, and I am on a lookout for a local Japanese individual who\'ll work side-by-side with me. We\'ll make video lessons / series and other content together.  The new hire will announce herself very soon after being acclimated to what we do here.

Leveling and Practice Arcades
This is a big thing and kind of a blast to the past for those who remember. Many features were removed such as the arcades and the reason being is that I didn\'t know how to make it work. They were just random Japanese-style games and that was it. Now, I have figured out a few games to make which is strictly educational and will be a part of the \"Practice Hub & Arcades\" section. The more you play, the more you learn and the more you level up. The higher the difficulty, the more XP you will gain and the higher level you will reach. You can also compete against others with a world-wide rank based on your XP / Level. Who\'s the best on Jappleng? Maybe it can be you! There\'s more to this but it\'ll be a secret for now.

Fixing the Vast Amounts of Bugs
There\'s 8 Pages worth of bugs on Jappleng and quite a bit of it are huge problems. These bugs will all be tackled this month.

Password Reset and Other Features
You can change your password in your Settings Panel but what if you forget your Username or Password? These features which was meant to be released months ago was left in a forgotten pile and will see the light of day next week.

Daily Login Bonuses
Among the many new things coming next week, daily login bonuses will be a thing. What could this be you wonder? You\'ll have to login every day to find out!

Achievement Fix
We will be fixing our achievement system and making all achievements attainable. New achievements will eventually be implemented including \"dailies\" so that you are more motivated to study every day.

Secret J-Coins
J-Points or J-Coins? We\'re still debating this but we\'re leaning on J-Coins. These little things are the currency you get by participating around Jappleng, logging in every day, completing lessons, achievements etc...

Club Jappleng
In 2-weeks as of writing this, Club Jappleng development will resume and will be completed soon after. There are an incredible amount of features for club Jappleng and if you haven\'t read about it already... oh-hoh! You\'re in for a real treat!

The Future is BIG!
From design tweaks to new sections and features. New staff, exclusive educational lessons, videos, and editorials. An improved social network, forums, and chat. We\'re only ending the first week of the year and Jappleng is already showing some of its feathers.  There\'s so much more planned for the remainder of the year, some for next year which has never been mentioned.

Don\'t forget to create an account with us
Without an account, you won\'t be able to study Japanese, socialize with others whom are passionate about Japanese stuff. Without an account you won\'t get daily login bonuses or earn J-Points for doing things around the site. The list goes on but really, you probably have an account with facebook which require a phone number these days and here we just ask for your e-mail and we don\'t even share it with anyone. It takes no more than a minute to register and you get so many benefits for a life time. Plus, if you register now (as this was published) you can still be in the top 20,000 members for ID purposes and that\'s the cool kids club :D
