UPDATE 2: By a sheer miracle we were able to get electric/water and internet all done the next day, well... Internet is happening later today which means updates will most likely resume Thursday / Friday. Will let you know more towards the end of the day.UPDATE 1: The process of buying the house changed and it happened sooner than expected. The original schedule of Monday / Tuesday has been changed. I estimate it to be Wednesday/Thursday but it's possible that may change as well. I'm entirely sorry about this, everything was rushed forward for us and it suddenly just happened, everything did. It's exciting for sure but until Tuesday afternoon, there's no telling when updates will happen again. We're talking about a few days off not weeks so don't worry! There will be many new updates for both days on
MondayThursday and
TuesdayFriday and just as mentioned on my J-Spot post a few days ago, they will reflect the Forums, News, Education, and J-Spot sections. The Friday Update caused a heap of problems so I ended up disabling a few features as a result. The primary J-Spot algorithm has something wrong with it and it's very complex to resolve. Unfortunately this issue causes problems all over the website so it takes first priority at fixing.Once this is resolved, the redesigned forums will have the New Post / Reply to Post live feature fixed so that it displays the posts immediately rather than a page refresh. This worked fine before the update, it's just that the new system has code moved around and I just need to modify a few lines for it to work. Not a big deal.Once those forum bugs are resolved, the voting system in News in Japan will be fixed. For reasons unknown, it broke out of the blue and while users may still vote on items, it just acts weird.Upon that completion, the comment system will be re-activated around all of Jappleng. Initially we'll start with the news section then culture, then the education section. While upgrading the site, the comment system lost its ability to comment but not to view comments. This is only due to the design aspect was incomplete during migration. The comment system is no different as what you see on J-Spot so the incorporation will not take time, likely an hour or so.After the comments feature are implemented, I'll fix the issue where students can't complete lessons that don't contain homework. This is merely 2 lines of code and will not take more than 15 minutes at most (mostly for testing).Upon the completion of THAT, I will return to News in Japan and upgrade the Comment|Trending|Top Users module so that it reflects the new site design. Strangely enough, this is what will take the most time out of all the updates so far (roughly 3hours).Once all of that is complete, I will make the forums function with J-Spot. What that means is that new posts will show up on the J-Spot feed and so will replies. This will give the forums more exposure and speaking of exposure, the Community tab at the top-right of the website may be renamed to Forums by the end of all of this. I think that people assume Community means something other than forums just like how people mistaken "University" as an actual University.A quick note about these updates: Tomorrow I'm signing a contract to buy a house, it will be mine as of tomorrow. This is exciting as it's my first house but I have no idea when this will happen and how long this will take. It's possible that the said updates will happen On Monday/Wednesday instead if the process takes too long. I hear the stack of legal papers to read will be quite high. Please look forward to these updates! Once all of these updates are complete, 6 new lessons will be in development. Thank you for your time and extra thanks to everyone participating in the Club Jappleng Invite-Only event :D
