Let me perfectly clear, I love working on Jappleng as a hobby of mine and I'm the only one doing so. Updating one thing over another to me doesn't make one bit of a difference because in the end it has to get done. However, it is YOU that matters, you come to this site and you come here with a certain set of expectations. There's more than a hundred thousand things left to do on the site, hundreds of bugs currently exist, and there's a lot of features missing, content that needs to be added, created and so forth... I want you all to be in control because I don't really benefit much from Jappleng since I'm the one creating it. You're the ones that come here every day or every few days looking for updates of some kind but what exactly are you expecting? Now you can make your voice heard and after you learn about the next big things that should be updated, you can head over to the poll and vote for the things that you want to see updated next.
New lessonsETA: 2-days per lesson
Description: New lessons would be added to JPLearn! and other educational categories. Each lesson takes about 2-days from start to finish to write if it's for JPLearn! and if it's a very extensive lesson it could take more than double that. Other lessons that are not a part of the JPLearn! course could take a few hours each.
Update Forum ViewETA: 2-days
Description: The forum view is very dated, and it doesn't exactly make much sense nor is it user-friendly. This update would completely revamp the forum home page and sub-category views so that it's easier to navigate. This update will also consolidate some forum categories to make it easier to use for such a small community. Additionally, you'll even be able to mark ALL posts as read and be able to properly tell when something new has been posted. Presently, the date system is broken.
Travel JapanETA: 3-days
Description: The travel section says it's in maintenance mode, but in reality it just doesn't exist. The travel section is about taking a tour around Japan, learning about landmarks, how to save money while living there or visiting places, reviews of tourist attractions, where not to go, immigration information, and so on. While there will be some information about the culture of Japan, it is an entirely different section and the topics greatly vary. To make this section possible I would first have to design all sections (1-day), implement them (1-day) and then write / publish some articles for it (1-day). Of course, there would only be about 5 articles to start with.
Revamping Educational Videos (JVShare)ETA: 3-4 days
Description: This section is ugly, really ugly. I built this section in a rush and didn't really think about the presentation. In fact, it's broken and did I mention hideous? The navigation is poorly executed so no one really knows how to use it, and it doesn't flow with the rest of the site. Not to mention it's the buggiest section around the site. Very few people actually use that section. Why did I rush through this? Because I wanted to make Jappleng functional first and improve on the details later, so now it's later
Fix the bugs, improvementsETA: 3-days
Description: This one is rather minor. There are hundreds of little bugs around the site, and little things that could use tweaking. I don't know them all but I sure know a lot of them. I could spend 3-days fixing up the site so that it works better. In this update, I would also add the missing pages for teachers, students, and other parts of the site that is missing. It's an important update but it may not be what -you- want.
TAKE YOUR PICK!Please write in the comments what you would like updated next. You can also list updates in order that you want so if you want to see new lessons and the travel section the most, then you could list them both with your priority.
In order to comment, you will need to be logged-in. Remember, Jappleng is absolutely free!
