For forty-five years the
Sakura Matsuri has been celebrated in San Francisco, bringing the tradition and joy from Japan. From food stands to parades, the Cherry blossom festival is full of excitement for all.
This year, the festival is held
April 14th – 15th and the 21st – 22nd in San Francisco. If you cannot attend this festival on any of these dates,
Cupertino is hosting their own (much smaller) festival on
April 28 and 29th.

Where should you park?
From experience, parking is not easy and can cost up to $13. I like to park inside the mall’s garage nearby but it can be difficult to find parking. For more specific information: Click here to view SF’s Japantown’s parking rates.
Is it worth attending?
If you’re reading this, then the odds of you being interested are pretty high. So yes, if you’ve read this much GO GO GO! There’s some free stuff, a raffle to win a car (no strings attached like many festivals do), cosplay events (famine pre-con), lots of culture, exposure to Japanese people and dozens of Japanese stores, there’s a parade, and plenty of people with similar interests as yours! So it’s time to start mingling and find people to learn Japanese
Is this a not-for-profit festival?
Yes, but they have corporate sponsors and private donations to help fund such a grand event. If it weren't for them, there wouldn't be an event like this so make sure to take a look at the list of sponsors:
