Lowe and behold, the revelation of the decade has been said and there's no reversing it. Hello Kitty is known around the world as Japan's most iconic character over the past few decades and most of us grew up thinking that it was in fact a cat. But as it turns out it really isn't...Some may say,
"What is it then? A Kajit from the Elder Scrolls series?", nope, not that but that's pretty close. As it turns out it's a little girl who has a pet cat and no, that cat isn't what we see as Hello Kitty either. To figure this one out, we'll have to first quote what Sanrio corrected for the
first ever Los Angeles Exibit for Hello Kitty. Yano, an expo representative said:
I was corrected — very firmly. That's one correction Sanrio made for my script for the show. Hello Kitty is not a cat. She's a cartoon character. She is a little girl. She is a friend. But she is not a cat. She's never depicted on all fours. She walks and sits like a two-legged creature. She does have a pet cat of her own, however, and it's called Charmy Kitty.
So there you have it, she's not a cat, she's more like a cute adorable Kajit from the Elder Scrolls series. She's neither a cat or a human but somewhere in between and that's pretty common in anime anyhow. Cat girls for example are also of the same type, but with a different percentage of being a cat. So if they have cat ears they might be 5% cat, add in a tail, 10% etc... Hello Kitty would be somewhere in that anthropomorphic state but certainly not 100% cat. Many people are left confused, some are outraged, and some have already adapted to this mindset. What do you guys think about this news? Shocking? Exciting? Did you know? Don't care? We'd love to know, share your thoughts down below.
