Back in July, we mourned over the
death of Satoru Iwata, it was a sad passing that shook the gaming community by surprise. But this posed a serious question, what happens next? Iwata was the President of Nintendo, who can take the reigns of the most successful gaming company of all time? Many have speculated Shigeru Miyamoto to take up the lead, but it's really hard to see him spend most of his time working on documents, after all there wouldn't be any new great Mario or Zelda games without his direct full-time involvement. Some have wanted Reggie AKA the Regginator
(his body was ready for it) but Japan is very traditional and likely didn't choose him because he's not a Native Japanese. Perhaps that's what pushed Nintendo to go into another direction, a direction to someone who's had a lot of experience leading a company into the right direction. Let me introduce to you to the CFO of The Pokemon Company from 2000-2002, then President of Nintendo of America between 2002-2006, then later CEO of Nintendo of America
(slight title change) between 2006-2015. He is -- the one and only -- Tatsumi Kimishima.Sure, he may be 65 years old
(retirement is for the weak!) but he's got the experience of leading two giant companies that we all love and adore, and has the technical background for hardware, and leaves the creative roles to those best suited for it. He also worked at the Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ
(Japan's largest bank) for a whopping 27-years.2015 has been a widely successful year for Nintendo with the release of the highly acclaimed Wii U game, Splatoon and newly released Mario Maker. Nintendo is expected to unveil project Nintendo NX later next year.
