Well it's about time! Talk about saving the best one for last, but hey~ at least it's now partially functional in the development build. Let's go over what JPLearn! is about and how you'll be able to use it.
What is JPLearn!?JPLearn! is a way to learn Japanese online for free through a Learning Management System. You may learn Japanese from the very beginning through the very end, or at least in due time. With this online software, students of Jappleng may keep track of their progress, complete homework, print lessons or homework, download study sheets and keep track of words learned in Vocabulary Notes. In the future, JPLearn! will expand even further with quizzes, tests, and many interactive ways to help study. Achievements will be rewarded in due time but due to its infancy, the more important features will be developed first.
What if I want to learn without the course? You can learn Japanese without having to use the course on Jappleng and to do that you can navigate around "Beginner", "Intermediate", "Advanced", and "Memorize" categories. Additionally there are many more sections in the right hand menu (within the education section) that will offer things such as study notes and the like.
I've tried online classes before, how does JPLearn! differ? The difference is the approach that we use to teaching Japanese. We get down and dirty and go through the material meticulously so that students understand exactly what they are studying. Many classes don't offer more than just memorization and basic explanation to certain things but we prep people up and make sure they get the material they understand. Not to mention, we've got a comment system in place so if there are any question regarding any specific lesson, students are encouraged to use it.
How many lessons will be made available?Tomorrow there will be about 4 or 5 lessons made available for JPLearn! course, and one beginner lesson outside of the course. The reason why so little is because I will be focusing my time on improving the LMS and making sure the first few lessons work right.
What to do if I encounter a bug?Let me know via PM, post a comment in any of the lessons or make a post on the community forums (general section) about it. I will get around to reading it and responding to you as soon as I can. Please give me as much detail as you can such as what browser and version you're using (click on help > about), what operating system / service pack if possible and if you're on mobile broadband or not because I have issues with the site on mobile broadband myself.
When is this releasing?JPLearn! is making its debut on March 8th. I won't give a specific time but it'll happen on that day.
Do I need an account?Yes. You will need an account to access these lessons because they have features that can only be done by using an account such as homework, vocabulary tracking, lesson tracking, and in the future; achievement rewards, club Jappleng integration, progress charts, and quizzes that are customized for the student. There are more features that will be made available but for now, it's all hush-hush ;) But accounts are entirely free and unlike others, we won't be selling off your e-mail or private info to a third party so there's no worries for spam.I hope you are all excited about JPLearn! as I am. If you're not already registered, you can create a new account (see right menu) and again, it's entirely free! Please let me know in the comments below what you would like to see either as a feature or as a lesson. See you all tomorrow!
