I've been talking about this project for weeks now, and while it's not entirely complete just yet, I figured it's due time to reveal some of it to get you excited about it. So what IS Jappleng Evolved? It's the project nickname for the new Jappleng website. I know, I just completed Jappleng for the most part and now a new website? Well, sort-of!The site itself doesn't stray too far from the current one, in fact it's quite similar but some sections have been removed while others have been added or merged together for simplicity. There are many new features, the code and database stuff has been optimized, and the theme system has been reworked from the ground-up just like J-Spot is right now.But more importantly, about a month ago I realized how Jappleng could be "awesome!" and while many of you have already stated how awesome Jappleng is today, it needed that extra boost to make it the next big thing so let me elaborate. Many of the features work but they don't tie in with the rest of the site very well, and the site itself has a lot of sections that can be confusing.Presently, there's a menu that hovers around, a menu for the main sections, a menu on the right, and depending on where you are, there might be a menu underneath the main menu. It got ridiculous and this is by part due to not really planning but just doing stuff until I realized what would work and not work. But it's not just that, finding information is difficult, knowing that there's a social network (J-Spot) is only usually known by those that are already members and explored new sections, the layout isn't mobile friendly and when you click on stuff, it doesn't always work. All of this changed in the new design and it's been taking some time to get it going but I think that if it's not ready by next Friday it will be darn close. The news in Japan section is also a little confusing right now, hardly anyone knows that they can post their own news on it. I hope that with the new design and some of the new features will make it more obvious that anyone can create news.Overall however, it's just a bigger, better, and more beautiful website that can really be considered worthy of being used for after-beta. Without further adieu, let's get a first-glimpse on the new Jappleng dubbed project "Jappleng Evolved".
Project Jappleng Evolved is expected to release sometime between June 3 and June 10.For more previews, please follow me on J-Spot:
