Felix is a male character... what?
In Re:Zero, a cat-boy character that looks and dresses just like a girl is actually male. It's a trap!!! I don't care anymore, "she" is cute!

Live Action version of Prison School has been unveiled
Prison school is a very interesting anime in its own right. Now it has its very own live action adaption which means more craziness.

I like Prison School! It's stupid and they do a good job censoring stuff and making it fun to watch.

Congratulations on your first article, and thank you for contributing to Jappleng! I noticed that you used your jspot gallery to manage your images, which is awesome! It does give me an idea where you could create a folder per news article for example and you could embed the folder to create a gallery without causing issues in the display format. I will look into this when I get the chance. smile

consoles suck, you get to pick your console region and you're stuck with your region's games for the rest of its life. you pay for a console and can't play every game available for it. i want to play import games that will never make it here locally. how do i mod my console to play japanese games? i have a ps4 and a xbox one.

Yes you can and you definitively should be legally allowed to do so but Sony proved a few years back that modding your console is for reasons that baffle everyone illegal. It's fine to hack your phone or anything else but it's not okay to hack a game console. You paid for the console correct? Well, it's not completely yours according to US courts because you're not allowed to hack it.

I have never read the news  where someone has gone to jail and was fined a ton of money over this, but manufacturers of modkits have been brought to court.

What i did read is that if your game console is modded in any way, sony and microsoft will try and figure it out down to how many volts are being used (supposedly) and brick your console. Nintendo will have the Switch region-free and the Xbox One and Playstation 4 MIGHT also be region-free but I don't know. The last console I modded was my original Wii which exploited a bug in Zelda and allowed me to turn my Wii into a media center and allowed region locked games to be played.

Someone else with more up-to-date info should be able to help you though.

Thank you for your feedback! The way the chat works is that it checks every minute or so for any changes on the who'd online list. I know, it's not very practical or responsive and there are better ways to go about this programmatically speaking but that's how I went about it as a temporary measure. Sometimes though, who's online won't refresh when you login for latency reasons and you have to wait about a minute for that list to show up.

IMChat v2.5 will eventually happen but for the time being it is what it is. I say once there's a reasonable amount of people using IMchat, I'll go back to it and revise the who's online bugs and improve them among other things. Sadly with all the bugs on Jappleng right now and the list of critical bugs, this is a bit down the list. sorry :/

I don't know what to do with myself, school is coming to an end next year and I don't really know what I want to be. I'm not really strong or big and I don't know Japanese. The idea of doing something in japan sounds really good but i don't really care about their culture like some people here. I really just want to go to work, make money, and go home without having to worry about money. I don't care if I'm a teacher or work at a convenience store, as long as I have time to really enjoy myself and my hobbies. As for skills, I don't really have any. I'm pretty average in everything but I don't really try hard. /lazy

Is Japan really a good place to live? Is it as amazing as the dramas or is it overwork and underpaid? Is it worth it? I have to figure out what to do with myself.

You're asking a lot of question aren't you? :P No worries, these are great questions and you should always ask if you have something on your mind.

I honestly cannot tell you if you should or shouldn't go to Japan. If you don't have an insane amount of passion, there's probably no reason for you to go through all the trouble of emigrating to Japan, learning the Japanese language and being whatever you can be over there. The work hours in Japan are very long and overtime pay is only something of legends. That means you could be asked to work 14 hours in a day and get paid for 7.

Japan's economy isn't that great and recently it's been a roller-coaster. With the trans-pacific partnership being dropped, Japan might not do as well in the near future as well but only time can tell.

If you want to be a teacher, they are in demand pretty much everywhere. You can't be a teacher in korea because they don't allow foreigners to teach (as far as my korean friend tells me) but locally or internationally teachers are wanted. Why? They get paid very little above what you can make at Mc Donalds if you were to work full-time hours. Japan has it a bit more cozy with its conditions and free rail passes, boarding, and food depending on what program you're on.

There are a lot of people who will tell you that teaching in Japan was their dream and they are living it and enjoying it. However, there are others whom say that it's pretty bad. Living expenses are really high in Japan, higher than in California and you can hardly save up in California even with a high paying job. If you don't want to teach you can be an engineer, businessman of some sort, a translator, and really the list goes on. If you're really dedicated you could technically just move there and be whatever you want so long as you know Japanese fluently.

It takes less than 2 years to be fully fluent in the Japanese language through immersion. If you plan on cramming books and practicing with friends, it could take you a few months but if you take it slow and absorb it naturally it'll take about 2 years.

Just to re-iterate, you will have to learn to live like a Japanese person and speak their language. Assimilation is a requirement, not an option. Any American tendencies you may have need to be left at the border because you'll end up being "that annoying gaijin" if you don't learn their culture and language. It's not a hard path to follow and you might find purpose by doing so, I just want to be realistic with any expectations you might have for moving to Japan.

Oh, and you might want to start ASAP on your career path because it's not a simple process. You might want to study locally rather than abroad since the cost will be substantial and you will need to pass a bunch of requirements which takes time. Well, that's my opinion at least.

I have a really bad problem. I want to learn Japanese because it seems really fun to do. I don't know why but it just is. I think it would be fun to know a second language because I only know English and I also want to watch japanese tv and listen to music without having to rely on subs and translations. I study for 2 or 3 days and then I get demotivated for months. Then I try again and then I stop studying. I always lost interest after a few days and it's really annoying. How can I stay motivated so i can learn japanese fluently?

Go on J-Spot and find a bunch of people. Ask if they want to study with you and you can practice Japanese in wall conversations, j-mail conversations or IMChat conversations. Without people to study with and talk to, you hardly have any motivation to really continue on your own. I think that most people won't last a month without having others to practice and enjoy the language with.

get a reason to study it. there's no point if you don't have a reason

I agree with Mark. I constantly get discouraged mainly because I feel that I won't be able to use the language much until I go to Japan in a few years (hopefully). I think it is just a matter of keeping at it even if it's boring, though. However, if you're looking for someone to study with and chat with in Japanese then I'd totally be glad to! It honestly makes me more motivated when I see other people keeping at it as well. It's really encouraging! So like Mark said, I'd just suggest trying to find people who will speak in Japanese with you!
