The Story of Jappleng Part IV
Written by:
OG JapplengHello Cancer!
I ended up getting Skin cancer right before moving with my wife
overseas. I had it removed and I don't think I have it anymore
anywhere but it was interesting because while I was at the hospital
waiting for my turn, I was thinking about having cold feet thinking
"nah, it's nothing". But my wife said "no, you should get it
checked out" so I did. The doctor said it was nothing but I said I
need to get it extracted, so after enough convincing they did so on
the same day. I was already overseas by the time I got the results
and it was in fact skin cancer.

I had to continue getting treatment and didn't get the chance to
work on Jappleng for a while, which was pretty sad. Although
afterwards I was able to enjoy life, mostly normally. I’ll talk
more about my cancer adventure in another blog post.
Getting Married and the Final Jappleng
By this time I fell in love with an amazing girl. She is everything
I could ever want in a woman and more. She was and continues to be
the only person who believes in me and in Jappleng. I quit my job,
moved overseas, settled down for more than a year and got
married. I spent many of my days working on Jappleng and
Project Pinchy, however project Pinchy got cancelled after we were
hit with a super typhoon which cut our electricity for a few summer
months. By the time I could get in contact with staff, they had
deserted the project and found something else to do.
Jappleng on the other hand resumed business as usual and I
continued to work on it bit by bit but I spent most of my days
enjoying them 1-on-1 with my wife. We would watch anime, play
games, and just do whatever for about a year. It was a tropical
paradise. We even traveled for a bit as well.
At this point in development, the education section was mild, and
it didn’t actually have a learning management system, they were
just articles. I spent a bulk of my time rewriting code and adding
more comments to everything. Nothing here looked the same as it
does today.
In the next post, I move to the states and have a clear goal but
struggle almost every day.Last Edited: 2017-04-21 @ 16:31:56
