Good day everyone!
If you are new here, welcome to Jappleng! For everyone else,
welcome back!
If you aren't following my J-Spot posts, with is this
website's very own social network, then you may be out of the loop
on what is happening with development. In this thread I will
discuss the progress so far.
1. The new IMChat is spectacular. It is now complete and there
are so many features to say it's enjoyable. I love it. It's my
favorite spot in the entire site.
2. J-Spot Social is complete, it functions very well and as
far as I can tell, there are no bugs (yet). All of the "coming
soon" features are now available.
3. There has been significant improvements to the search
system including infinite pagination. This means that search
results are more accurate and as you keep scrolling, new results
will appear. Issues where some content did not show up even though
it's on the site and duplication of items is now resolved. It's
fully functional and prepared for the next stage which will be a
self-improving system. This system will be made available next year
and not with the initial launch.
4. The other sections such as learn Japanese, clubs, foums
etc... Have been improved and almost all bugs have been squashed.
Design-wise it's almost complete.
5. The new notification system is in the works, it uses a JSON
system instead of a variable string. This allows for a historical
amount of notifications and a system that doesn't break. The
current system was poorly designed and terribly optimized which
lead to horrible bugs where you couldn't ever dismiss certain
notifications. The new notification system is prettier and
functions correctly.
6. I have yet to improve the apps/games on the site including
the vocabulary builder but it is on my list of things to do.
7. Tons of new items have already been added to the market. Be
sure to post around to earn points which you use to redeem these
things.
8. The new achievement system is partially functional. I will
complete it as the last thing because it's logical to do so.
9. Anything else I didn't mention is likely already
completed.
The new Jappleng looks and feels entirely differently than it
does right now. It's hard to put into words but it's a website like
no other. Imagine a place where you can learn japanese, learn about
the japanese culture, find pen-pals from japan, make friends from
all over the world, play games, use an exclusive social network
that respects your personal data, create and join fan clubs, keep
track on the things you have learned, take part of forums, receive
daily rewards, complete achievements, chat with others and the list
goes on and on and on...
It's a hefty project to complete but I expect a beta to be
ready by the end of this week. Next week some time I will hope to
have released it. I'm alone working on this project so please be a
bit more patient. Thank you and you may keep up to date with the
latest happenings by visiting my J-Spot
