Hello everyone! February was a long time ago, or at least it
feels like it. I burnt out bad. But, it's time to come back to
Jappleng, at least I think so.
There have been a lot of new members since then, and many new
members join each and every day. They usually come to lurk or to
study Japanese. Whatever the case is, I'm sure they feel let down
that the project was on hiatus and so were you.
It's clear that I can't mantain a website as grand as Jappleng
on my own. There are dozens of sections, and there's a lot of
up-keep to them. I haven't finished some apps, and there are many
bugs to be fixed. Lessons are incomplete or unpublished and really,
I got this far, why not continue?
I think that Jappleng needs to downsize. During the remake of
the project, it was only supposed to be a social network and once
enough people joined, I would then add the lessons and more
sections gradually. I went overboard. Not all sections have
returned but I do need to reconsider what to add and keep.
I want to work on a mobile app for this project but before I
do, I want to make sure that the website has an active community
again. I don't want to spend months building something that nobody
is interested in using.
Once again, this project is free to use, there are no ads or
cost to it. The downside is I can't earn money to advertise so it's
hard to get the word out. So if you want to help this project move
forward, it would be a lot of help if you could post anywhere you
can on a daily basis and tell your friends about it. One person
posting 5 times a day is more than what is going on right now. 2
people posting 5 times a day is double that! Eventually people will
join in and it'll be a normal thing.
For now, I need to reflect on what people may want out of this
site and focus on that instead of everything.
I appreciate any feedback/advice you may have. But once again,
mobile is unrealistic for now without knowing if there's going to
be a community for it but if the website can work, then I'll get on
to developing a mobile app.
