What is Yokai
Trainers?
Yokai Trainers is a web game developed for project Jappleng. It
is similar to Pokemon, Digimon and other games like it for combat,
it has a City Builder system (your village) where you can customize
how your town looks like and upgrade as needed, there will also be
a Yokai Trainer system similar to a pet raising game. The game will
be both playable directly and indirectly using two different play
modes. Multiplayer is planned but will release only if this game
shows potential.
Kind of, there will be some educational elements since it
involves a lot of Japanese folktales and beliefs. You are also free
to change the game's language to something else and try to learn
from there. Originally, the idea was to teach Japanese through the
adventure but it was too difficult to find a way to make it
entertaining enough.
Will this game be available for Mobile?
Maybe, if Yokai Trainers gains enough popularity, it's not out
of question. This game is being developed mainly as a personal
interest and not really for a specific market in mind.
Will this game be free to play?
Yes, it will be free to play.
When will this game release in a completed state?
No release date is scheduled. Jappleng and other projects take
priority over this game but if you wish to see more updates to this
projects, please make your voice heard in the forums (either main
forums or the club forums). The more people push me to develop this
game, the quicker it will release.
Beta when?
During the active development, public testing will be made
available starting with Build 100 (Estimate Mid-February, 2023).
Each test build will contain its own set of new features to play
with.
