This is a shame, they used to be excited to see me all the
time and there was a clear difference between wanting my attention
for food and wanting my attention for fun. They grew up in an
aquarium but in less than a week, their ammonia level went straight
to 8ppm! I was surprised as well, but I had to do something. I
moved the koi to the indoor pond which had a variety of fish and
moved those fish into the aquarium. I didn't want to do that but
the fish don't seem too overcrowded at least.
The problem now is that the koi are afraid of me, when i get
near the pond they freak out and bang their faces onto everything!
It's sad to watch, but I just throw some food and leave. Hopefully
their instincts won't blind them for too long. Fish in general take
about 1-2 weeks to get used to you again so hopefully they'll warm
up to me like they did before.
Still, it's sad. I don't think they can tell who i am from
down there, the perspective must be weird :(
