Plot
The story begins when Ippo Makunochi, a shy and weak kid whom gets picked on by others, gets beaten up by his classmates on his way home. Mamoru Takamura a pro-boxer was passing by and ran the bullies away and invites Ippo to go to the Kamogawa Gym and upon their arrival, he notices how Ippo’s weak status Is affecting him emotionally and told him to hit sandbags to let his emotions out.
While Ippo was hitting the sandbags, Takamura realized just how much potential Ippo had for boxing. This is where the story begins and follows Ippo on his path towards becoming stronger and a professional boxer.
What to expect:
As an ongoing series there is a lot of character development in it. As characters are introduced, their background and relationships are revealed.
There is a lot if not most of the time comedy present in the story, even if it’s something subtle and small; it is there to make you smile just to break up tense moments. Despite some comical moments, it should be noted that this story can be taken seriously.
The boxing matches will draw you in to it and probably make you want to cheer on the opponent instead of the main character a lot of the time.
If the viewer isn’t into interested in a lengthy series, we would like to be persistent and suggest this series as an exception due to its ability to pull its audience into the lore of the story and characters. It is very enjoyable, even for those with little to no interest in boxing.
